General Manager

As General Manager of Deaf Services Queensland since 2004, Brett Casey has dedicated a considerable part of his working life within the Deaf field, in both service and advocacy organisations. Prior to his current role, Brett worked as the Manager of Interpreting Services and Client Services of the same organisation..

Brett has served on the Board of the Australian Association of the Deaf, the peak body for Deaf consumers in Australia. His vision is to see Australian Deaf community and individuals to gain full access and equity rights, the same as any citizen.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts. His key area of interest includes international human rights and discrimination law. Brett has published a number of papers and articles on various Deaf topics in academic journals.

As a keen triathlete, Brett enjoys balancing his full professional life by spending most mornings on a training ride, run or swim.
